 The tradition of requiring witnesses to swear an honesty oath likely traces back to Roman times.The graphed oath is framed on either side with a lice stitch pattern. It is worked in-the-round (ITR) on circular needles which creates a tube. After the desired length (circumference around the shoulders) is reached, the ends of the tube are woven together.
